Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow...

Yesterday...

Yesterday I went to Pennsylvania.

Yesterday was Sunday.

Yesterday all the Amish places were closed because it was Sunday.

Yesterday I went to Valley Forge for the first time.

Yesterday I ran the Rocky Steps.

Yesterday I got to talk to my friends Rose and Holly. It was nice. They are wonderful. I miss them.

Yesterday I went to the Number 1 ranked Haunted House in America. It was scary. I loved it.

Yesterday while in the Haunted House Steve out-acted the actors. I felt the full effects of it.

Yesterday I ate a true Philly Cheesesteak from the 2 best places in town, Geno's and Pat's. Pat's was better.

Yesterday is history.

Today...

Today a Kiosk ripped Dave and I off. Dave got really mad at it. I was amused.

Today we went back to that Kiosk and it gave us more money then we gave it.

Today a Park Ranger blew a whistle at me. A lot.

Today I saw the Liberty Bell.

Today I saw Benjamin Franklin's grave.

Today I stood in the room where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed by our Founding Fathers.

Today I went to a town called Intercourse...yes someone really did name it that and yes it is an Amish town.

Today I learned how to twist and make a pretzel.

Today was an unusual day.

Tomorrow...

Tomorrow I am not working.

Tomorrow I get the honor of visiting Arlington Cemetary and the World War II monument with World War II Veterans. I wish my Grandfather was going to be there.

Tomorrow is still mostly a mystery.

Luck or Chance?

I work at the Colesville Plaza. From the steps of the Plaza I can watch the metro trains come and go as it shuttles people from MD to DC and vice versa. EVERYDAY, and I mean EVERYDAY, no matter what time I leave work - whether it is 5 minutes early, on time, or 5 minutes late - I ALWAYS see the train to wherever I am headed, be it MD or DC, coming in. As I see the train begin to pull up to the station I start to SPRINT(shoes permitting the speed) down the stairs frantically trying to find my wallet to get my metro pass out, shove it in the metro card thing, and sprint up the escalators. EVERYDAY as I reach the top of the escalators the doors are still open. My heart leaps with joy as I run toward the open door. Just as I am about 5ft away EVERYDAY the doors close. I am just far enough away that I can't squeeze myself through the door. Needless to say I am very bothered! So am I just the most unlucky person in the world? Or is it chance?

MCDI and My Last Two Weeks

Well this week I bought my plane ticket and got an internship. It has been a big week! I have been placed with Medical Care Development International (to go to their website click here). I am SO excited about this internship! I am very interested in what they do and hope I can do something to help in their endevours while interning with them. Here is their Mission Statement from their website:

"The mission of MCDI is to enhance the well-being of peoples and communities in developing nations through superior technical assistance in health and socio-economic development. We will seek to empower families with the knowledge and behavior needed to improve infant and child survival and maternal health and care. We develop and disseminate tools, mechanisms and strategies that improve access and management of sustainable levels of health care services. We work with a full spectrum of organizations, from grassroots community groups to multi-lateral donor institutions, to enable continuing and progressive improvement in the quantity and quality of care available and affordable to the neediest people on earth, and seek to enhance their financial ability to benefit from these improvements."

How awesome does this sound? They have many different areas they work in. Some of which are, Child Survival, Architecture and Engineering, Water Supply and Sanitation, and many more. Go look at the website to learn more! I can't begin to express my excitement about this internship!

I am about to begin my last two weeks here in SLC before I move to Washington DC for the semester. A lot has been running through my mind while I've been thinking about this short time I have. Really it is only one week, then I leave for Lake Powell and Yellowstone and leave the morning after I get back! I have been very excited about going out to DC and I still am. But as the time to leave draws closer I have thought a lot about all the things I am going to miss. My great friends I have SO much fun with, who I am going to wear-out I am sure by the end of this week. My parents. The mountains, and with them being able to tell North, East, South, and West. My dog. Fall semester in Chi Omega. Monday Nights. Neighbors. Escape(my car). And much much more!

Hiking

So last night me and a group of friends hiked up to Lake Catherine in Brighton...and I got photo's! After we went and roasted marshmallows at our cabin. It was a blast. I don't have much else to say about it, but I've got some photo's! yay!

Photographs...

I LOVE taking photographs! Truly one of my favorite things. But lately I have been SOOOO bad at taking my camera on outings with me and the ones I have taken it on I have taken few if any photos. I am very mad at myself. When I do bring it, I don't want to hold people back and have anyone wait for me and when I bring my camera I either take a picture of EVERYTHING or I barely get it out at all. I can't find a happy medium. The other horrible thing is that it isn't that I forget it. It is that I convince myself that it will be a nuisance or simply unnecessary. Here is generally what goes through my mind, "well, I am going on a hike and I can't carry my water in the camera case. i don't want to carry two bags and I don't want to hold the water." So I won't take the camera and then totally kick myself for not bringing it with the lovely wild flowers and streams. So this week the Camera is coming, besides I was a pack horse all through high school, why change it now? I also went to Bear Lake this weekend. I figured this is a Young Single Adult activity everyone will have their camera! Right? FALSE. I did not see a single camera whipped out the entire weekend. So now I have had several really fun adventures and absolutely nothing to show for it! So this week I am making a goal to take my camera on all my fun adventures and show you all the fun things i am doing at the end of the week. Really show you all the places I go! Not that interesting of a post, but it is something and now you can all make me show the evidence of my adventures!

Washington D.C.

So a few weeks ago I found out for sure that I will be doing an internship in Washington D.C. through the Hinckley Institute at the University of Utah!!! I don't know who I will be interning with yet, but I am very excited about the opportunity! I am also very excited because Camille, Ryan, Eliza and Bennett will all be there too! As well as Ryan's brother Braden! It is going to be so much fun! I can't wait. When I go I may actually have things to blog about too!! Now wouldn't that be exciting??
